With the NFL trade deadline looming, the Dallas Cowboys made the first move. Dallas sent a first-round pick to Oakland for the star WR. Oakland is in the middle of a disastrous season, which saw them trade Khalil Mack to the Chicago Bears. The Dallas Cowboys needed another weapon badly for Dak Prescott, which was evident after their loss to Washington. Amari Cooper was drafted by Oakland in the first-round in 2013 and he put up enormous numbers in his first two years. The past couple years have been disappointing for Cooper as the entire Raiders team has struggled. In Week 6, Cooper suffered a concussion against Seattle in London. Rumor has it that Amari Cooper would be traded because Coach Jon Gruden wasn’t a fan of his anymore. Could all of this maneuvering by the Raiders this year all because of Gruden? Is he that great of a coach?
Either way, Dallas acquired a quality receiver, and this is final year of his rookie contract. In 2019, Amari Cooper will be playing under his fifth-year option which is valued at $13 million. The big question now is, will the Cowboys give Amari Cooper a long-term contract? Will Cooper be a one or two year rental? Only time will tell, but the Cowboys offense just got better with the addition of Cooper.
