From multiple reports, it seems like a Josh Gordon release is coming. Throughout his entire six year career with the Browns, his issues have been well documented. Coming into this year, it seemed like things were turning around for Gordon and the Browns. After adding Jarvis Landry, it seemed like the Browns finally added another quality WR to go with Josh Gordon. It was reported that Gordon would miss Sunday’s game in New Orleans with a hamstring injury. Now we’re hearing that he’ll be released Monday or be traded. With the Browns parting ways with Gordon, will they turn their attention to Dez Bryant or go with what they have? There are quite a few teams that could use a WR, here’s five possible destinations for the troubled WR.
With Alshon Jeffrey still healing from offseason rotator cuff surgery and Mack Hollins going on IR, the Eagles need help. With Torrey Smith gone, that leaves Nelson Aghalor as the top WR and that will not cut it in the league. We still don’t know when Carson Wentz will be cleared to return, Nick Foles need all the help he can get. The defense will not hold up being on the field as much as they did against the Falcons. Philadelphia have brought in several WRs over the last week, but Gordon could open up the offense for the defending champs. Whenever Jeffrey returns, this could make a good 1-2 combo for a returning Carson Wentz.
New England Patriots
New England have had issues with their WRs dating back to training camp. They have released several WRs and they signed former Browns WR and top pick from 2015, Corey Coleman. New England is always looking to upgrade any position on their team. If Josh Gordon were to sign with the Patriots, he’ll know what to expect and get a chance to prove himself. Seeing that Tom Brady and the Patriots isn’t scared to open up their offense, Gordon would be the perfect player.
The Dallas Cowboys are rumored to be one of the teams he’d like to sign with. Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense struggled the first game against Carolina. Everyone in the NFL have stated they’ll stack the line to stop Ezekiel Elliott and make Prescott use his arm. Josh Gordon would be a nice addition to play on the other side of Allen Hurns. We all know that Jerry Jones will bring on anyone that could help his team win despite their checkered past. The question is, will he bring Gordon in?
We all know that when healthy, Josh Gordon is one of the better deep threats in the league. Cam Newton has one of the strongest arms in the league and Josh Gordon would be a perfect fit. With Christian McCaffrey big play ability along with Cam’s running, Gordon could open things up. Carolina haven’t had that type of threat since Ted Ginn Jr. left for New Orleans.
San Francisco 49ers
Many think the 49ers could make that jump to playoff contention. The first game against Minnesota showed that offense lacked big play ability. With San Francisco being one of the possible destinations Gordon picked, would they be willing to take that chance? Jimmy Garoppolo is definitely in need of another playmaker and Gordon’s a big WR.
Will one of these teams be the next destination for Josh Gordon? Who would you like to see pick up Gordon? Does he even get another chance? Leave a comment below.
