We know that the Money in the Bank PPV takes place on Sunday. Before that, we have another NXT special on the WWE Network, NXTTakeover: Chicago II. As we all know, the NXT Takeover specials always produce great matches. For me, out of the five matches taking place, at least two of them have the potential to be match of the year candidates. Those matches are the Ricochet/Velveteen Dream and Johnny Gargano/Tommaso Ciampi matches. Either way, this is a strong card and should be very entertaining. Let’s see what I think will take place tonight at NXTTakeover: Chicago II.
We’ll kick things off with the match between Ricochet and Velveteen Dream. Velveteen Dream has thrown numerous shots at Ricochet because of his indie wrestling roots. For those of you that don’t know, Ricochet is one of the best wrestlers in the world. When putting these two together in the same ring, this should be an instant classic. Ever since Velveteen Dream battled Aleister Black, his stock has risen as John Cena even stated he’d love to wrestle Velveteen Dream. As far as the match, I’m predicting Ricochet will get a lot of offense in and will have a couple of “Holy Shit” moments through the air. Velveteen Dream will also get in a lot of offense and continue to show why he’s the future of the WWE, if he’s used correctly. In the end, I’m thinking Velveteen Dream picks up the win as he needs it.
Winner: Velveteen Dream
In the NXT Women’s Championship match, Shayna Blaszer battles Nikki Cross, formerly of Sanity. As we all know, Baszler defeated Ember Moon to capture the championship. When Sanity was announced as the next call-ups to the main roster, there was no Nikki Cross. We all know why now because she’ll be challenging for the NXT Women’s title. This should be one of the more physical women’s championship in NXT history. With Baszler, she’s as physical as it gets in that ring and she specializes in submission moves. Nikki Cross puts her body in danger damn near every time she steps in the ring. With Baszler being basically a new champion, this isn’t the time for her to drop it. As a matter of fact, I’m thinking she’ll hold the title for a long time.
Winner: Shayna Baszler
This is for the NXT Tag Team Championships held by the Undisputed Era. They defend their titles against Danny Burch and Oney Larcan. Ever since, Roderick Strong aligned himself with the Undisputed Era, they’ve caused havoc. Danny Burch and Oney Larcan are two of the more underrated wrestlers in the world. They have the potential on putting on a great match with the Undisputed Era, but can they take the titles? With the Undisputed Era just getting start with Roderick Strong, there’s so much potential. With them continuing to cause havoc in NXT, I’m thinking they’ll retain the titles. It wouldn’t surprise me if we get an appearance from Adam Cole.
Winners: The Undisputed Era
We have Aleister Black defending his NXT Championship against Lars Sullivan. Aleister Black is one of my favorite wrestlers in the world. Everything about Black is cool to me and it was good to see him win the NXT championship. During his interviews, he knows the importance of holding the belt and its history. With Lars Sullivan, when you look at him he just has that look of dominance and total destruction. This match isn’t going to be pretty and should just as physical as the Women’s title match. Sullivan will dominate the match, but Black should escape with the win and keep the title.
Winner: Aleister Black
The final match on the card should be Johnny Gargano facing Tommaso Ciampi. In their last encounter at NXTTakeover: New Orleans I’ve stated it was one of the best overall matches ever. What’s crazy is that was Ciampi first match back since being cleared from his major knee injury. Many thought the injury would hurt this feud because it happened after Ciampi turned on Gargano. Ever since their match, this feud has continued to get uglier. CIampi has involved Gargano’s wife, Candice LaRae. With this being a Street Fight, I’m thinking they’ll tear some shit up tonight. It wouldn’t surprise me if they tear up announcer tables, the ring, go through the crowd and up the aisle. This match will have a lot of “Holy Shit” chants and could be the most physical match of the evening. Expect people to be talking about this match tomorrow and Ciampi wins.
Winner: Tommaso Ciampi- The feud will continue after this match into the next NXT special, which is probably Summerslam weekend in a couple of months.
