Wrestling became one of my favorite things to watch back in the mid-80s. I was around 7 or 8 years old and my uncles were into it really heavy. During that era, wrestlers were more like superheroes to many of us. My first recollection of Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart was he was crazy. Neidhart and Bret “The Hitman” Hart was the Hart Foundation. They were one of the best tag teams of all-time. With Bret Hart, he was the technician and we knew he would be a great singles competitor. Neidhart was the muscle of the group and he had the crazy beard and was intimidating to his opponents as he screamed and laughed at them. In the mid-90s, they reformed the Hart Foundation again, but this time they added Owen Hart, Brian Pillman and The British Bulldog. It’s crazy looking that only Bret Hart is the only living member from that stable.
Fast forward, well after he retired we knew more about he was as a person. WWE Superstar Natalya is his daughter and we saw their bond over the years. You never judge a book by its cover because you would think he’s one of the meanest guys in the world. From everyone who knew The Anvil, they all say he was one of the nicest guys you’ve ever met. Prayers to his family, Natalya, Tyson Kidd and the entire Hart Family. Rest in Peace Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart.
